History will have to record that the greatest tragedy of this period of social transition was not the strident clamor of the bad people, but the appalling silence of the good people

 Martin Luther King, Jr.

History

Our school was founded in 1867. We are proud to continue the provision of education to the boys of Monaghan Town and its surrounding areas.

History gives us all an insight into the lives of people in the past and it encourages us all to work as historians to gather information and look at the events of the past.

Exploring our history helps us to be aware of human character, motivation, belief and emotion.
It can help us to understand the world we now live in and how the past has shaped our home, our locality and the wider world.

Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it

George Santayana
